Sketch of Canopic jars, Egyptian alabaster, mummified organ jars, New Kingdom in Brooklyn Museum

The Urban Sketchers, NYC, met at the Brooklyn Museum, Egyptian collection on Saturday 11/10/18. I found a peaceful corner and enjoyed studying these alabaster jars containing mummified organs. Priests separately mummified the stomach, liver, lungs and intestines, to be placed in jars.  By the New Kingdom the jars had human, baboon, jackal, and falcon heads.
